Airport Architecture & Terminology

Terminology for air transportation has always fascinated me. Correct me if I’m wrong…

Apron – The tarmac where planes “park” while unloading/loading
Rotation – Know when the plane turns after take off to face its correct course? Yeah. That.
Air Traffic Control – They control the traffic in the air.
Ground Control – They control the planes on the tarmac.
Tarmac – The paved areas on the ground.
Clear – When the plane has lifted off and is underway.
Taxiway – The roads on which planes roll around before take off and after landing.
Nosebridges – The bridge that connects the terminal building to the plane. Feels great running on these.
